Meda Films Develompent (MFD) is a project initiatied by Ali n’ Production and conducted under the European Union-funded Euromed Audiovisual II program*, in partnership with the Marrakech Film Festival Foundation. Its goal is to accompany producers and scriptwriters, selected among the MEDA** region candidates, through the development of their feathure-length film project. For the beneficiaries of the program, M.F.D. will host three eight-day workshops in Marrakech. The objective is to allow scriptwriters and producers to adopt a new way in conceiving, thinking and collaborating on the first steps of a feature-length film. The main topics will be: script writing, the role of the producer, legal, artistic Aspect and marketing aspect of projects, and the distribution/exploitation of films. For the 2006 sessions, MFD received 29 applications from all MEDA countries, except Syria. The 10 selected projects are: 1. «Au bout du tunnel» presented by Adlane Khodja and Anis Djaad (Algérie) 2. «Sense of Will» presented by Nizar Yunès and Shady Srour (Israël) 3. «Temporarely Unsignified» presented by Baher Agbaria and Juna Suleiman (Israël) 4. «Le Testament» presented by Pierre Sarraf and Nadim Tabet (Liban) 5. «Un homme d’honneur» presented by Michel Ghosn and Jean-Claude Codsi (Liban) 6. «Oum» represented by Olga Nakkas (Liban) 7. «Dancing At The Check Point» presented by Karma Abu Sharif and Ismaël Habbash (Palestine) 8. «Azrayl» presented by Mohieddine Temimi and Semy El Haj (Tunisie) 9. «Revolutionist Youth Bridge» presented by Selda Salman and Bahriye Kabadayi (Turquie) 10. «Elif» presented by Devici Sadik and Voskay Sibel ((Turquie) The first training session will be held in Marrakech from April 19 to 26, 2006. ________________________ * The main objective of the Euromed Audiovisual II, a three year programme launched in January 2006, is to contribute to mutual understanding between the peoples of the European Union and the South of the Mediterranean by underlining their common values and the cultural diversity of the Mediterranean region.
