After sociology studies, Walid Tayaa begins cinema studies. Since his first age, he joins the tunisian amateur film-makers federation of cine-clubs. He produces short-length amateur movies which participated in international independent festivals. He works as first assistant film-maker on several productions. In 2006, he signs he first short-length professional movie "Madame Bahja", which won him a selection in the category "All the films of the world" at the Cannes film festival 2006. He takes part in several trainings and workshops between Tunisia, Morocco, Syria, Czech Republic, Germany, and finally France where he follows the adult continuing education at the Femis school in 2007. At the present time, he works in post production on his documentary "Moi, El Essawi", upon the soufie brotherhood of Issawiyya in Tunis, and prepares his second short "Vivre", and another one, "Prestige", as part of an African project; he works too on the writing of his first full-length film "Fataria", written in the framework of the scenario workshop at the Femis school.
