 Chaim Sharir is one of the busiest producers in Israel. Among his feature
film production, Circus Palestina (feature film) directed by Eyal Halfon,
won the Israeli Academy awards for Best Film, Script, Music and Actors
and represents Israel for U.S Foreign Film Oscar nomination. His philosophical-comedy
by director Igal Bursztyn entitled EVERLASTING JOY or The Life and Adventures
of Baruch Spinoza as Reported by His Vigilant Neighbors; (1996), has been
running in movie theaters in Tel-Aviv for 3 consecutive months. The film won
the 1997 Haifa Film Festival - Critic's Award, the 1996 Israeli Academy
Award, and the Jerusalem Film Festival Cash Prize for Best Screenplay.
Sharirs' other feature film productions include The Italians Are Coming (1995)
directed by Eyal Halfon, an Israeli-Italian co-production starring Franco
Nero; New Land (1994), directed by Orna Ben Dor; Audience Favorite at
the Montpellier Mediterranean Film Festival, and Blind Mans Bluff (1993)
directed by Aner Preminger, Winner of Best Film Awards at the Jerusalem
International, Montpellier Mediterranean and Montevideo Film Festivals.
Among Sharirs' other productions are: Gentila (feature film) directed
by Agur Schif winner of the Haifa Film Festival for Best Film, and Leviathan
on the Beach (3 part mini-series), directed by Moshe (Zil) Zimmerman, starring
Assi Dayan, Miluim (20 episodes TV's drama-series hit), Melanoma My
Love (4 parts mini-series drama) winner of the Israeli Academy awards for Best
Drama, and I Didn't Promise You (15 episodes TV's drama-series now
in Pre-production for 15 episodes 2nd Season).
Sharir worked for many years as a top Line Producer on such international films as "The Mummy", starring Tony Curtis; Paramount Pictures "Best Defense", starring Eddie Murphy; "The Fairytale Theater Series" with Diana Rigg and Christopher Walken, and "Iron Eagle II", Directed by Sidney Furie. His international television credits include films and mini-series produced by ABC Television in the U.S., Granada TV in Great Britain and Studio Hamburg in Germany.
Chaim Sharir is now the Chairman of Israel's Film and Television Producer's
Association. He has served as the Chairman of Israel’s Academy of Motion
Pictures and T.V. and for 7 years he was the Head of Productions and later
the Vice President of RESHET (NCP) 2nd channel – The Israeli biggest
broadcast channel.
