Holger Recktenwald graduated in Media Science and Management.

Since 1998 he is engaged in the manifold field of film distribution.

He worked as manager for different Cologne (Germany) based film distribution companies like Real Fiction focussing on documentary, and Rapid Eye Movies specialised in Asian and Indian feature films. Besides he co-founded the art house cinema Filmpalette.

Currently he is deputy director of Rapid Eye Movies.

In 2005 he additionally set up his own distribution company Second Order Film with main focus on international art house films.
